Dave Chapman
Dave Chapman has worked in the outdoor industry for 20 years turning his passion for the mountains into a full time job. He is a Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor, living and working in the Cairngorms National Park. He spends his free time climbing, mountaineering, biking and skiing. Dave also works training and assessing on mountain leader awards on behalf of Mountain Training Scotland and has several years of mountain rescue experience.

Martyn Stottlaw
Martyn is a Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor based in the Cairngorms. He has been working in the outdoor industry for nearly 20 years and has climbed and biked all over Scotland. He’s enjoyed some great adventures outside of Scotland including climbing in the Andes, biking in Patagonia, ski touring in Norway and working with huskies in Lapland and in the Arctic. He also has several years experience with the local Mountain Rescue Team and enjoys ultra-distance bikepacking.
James Orpwood
James is a Winter Mountain Leader who lives and works in the Cairngorms National Park. Formerly a fisheries scientist, James relocated to Aviemore in 2016 to pursue his passion for the outdoors full time. James enjoys hill walking, mountaineering, mountain biking and cross country skiing. In his free time James loves to travel and has been trekking and mountaineering in Morocco, Nepal, Bolivia, Iceland, Norway, Ecuador, Pakistan, and Peru. Despite the dramatic and very deliberate change in his working life, James maintains a keen interest in ecology and natural history, even enjoying an occasional spot of fishing!
Jon Sanders
Jon holds the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award. Jon is an active climber who most enjoys multi-pitch rock climbing and Scottish Winters. Jon also holds qualifications in kayaking and mountain biking, and is a keen sea kayaker. Jon has been heavily involved in Tayside Mountain Rescue over the years so you know you are in expert, safe hands when you are out with Jon.
Charlie Burrow
Charlie Burrow is a Winter Mountain Leader and a BASI ski and snowboard instructor based in the North West Highlands. During the summer months Charlie takes people on adventures in the sea and canyons of the North West but his main passion has always been snowsports. After spending several years teaching skiing and snowboarding in the Alps, he settled in Scotland and spends his days off exploring the mountains on skis.
Lawrie Brand
Lawrie Brand has worked in the Scottish mountains for the last 15 years and holds the Mountaineering Instructors Award, Winter Mountain Leader and is a BASI Alpine Ski Instructor. He enjoys exploring the more remote areas in Scotland, both on foot and by mountain bike. He has climbed extensively in Scotland and many other countries, including Jordan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Sweden and the Alps.
Rory Brown
Rory Brown holds the Winter Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award as well as qualifications in ski touring, mountain biking and paddle sports. He enjoys getting involved with a wide range of outdoor activities but mountaineering is his real passion, and has walked and climbed extensively throughout Scotland, as well as bigger trips to the Alps and Europe.
John Lees
John is a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and Winter Mountain Leader with a passion for being in the outdoors. Having been lucky enough to spend time in all parts of the world he now spends his time between Snowdonia and Scotland spending his free time climbing and mountaineering.
John Brooks
John is a Mountaineering instructor based across the UK. He is a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and holds the winter mountain leader award as well as host of outdoor first aid and water qualifications. John has a love of the Scottish mountains especially in winter. He has worked in the British mountains for over a decade and is passionate about promoting independence in these amazing environments. He has spent time climbing in the European Alps as well as the Himalayas, when he is at home he can be found volunteering for the local Mountain Rescue.
